Anyone can champion the cause. Whether you’re speaking out to improve education, income and basic needs, reaching out to members of Congress, or wearing the LIVE UNITED shirt to show your support, you can help inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow. So go ahead and advocate in a LIVE UNITED world. Do it in public. Be visible. Be loud.
EDUCATION: Help children achieve their potential
Recent proposals have been introduced by members of the Michigan Legislature that will significantly decrease funding for several early childhood programs. Help make sure early childhood programming is preserved in Michigan’s 2011 budget.
INCOME: Advocate for working families
The EITC Notification Act will require companies with five or more
employees to notify their employees about the EITC. Since the EITC is
only available for working individuals, building awareness in the
workplace is critical to its effectiveness. Ask
your state senator to support this Act now.
BASIC NEEDS: Help children grow mentally and physically by ensuring their access to food
Children need proper nutrition to foster mental and physical development. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 would expand program access to reduce child hunger and improve nutritional quality to promote health and reduce childhood obesity. Ask Congress to support a fully funded Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act now.
